Tasting Notes
Colour: Ruby
Aroma: The nose is extremely perfumed and inviting. A barrage of savoury Indian spice box aromas are followed by tobacco and freshly ground coffee. These complex savoury characters are underpinned by cranberry and toffee apples.
Palate: The palate is fresh and luscious, with the elegance of fine rooibos tea. Bramble fruits and dry forest-floor characters make way to fine dusty tannins and mouth-watering acidity.

Technical Notes
Fruit for Hill Road Pinot Noir is sourced from a 27 year old single-vineyard site where arched cane vines are thinned to a single bunch per shoot. Equal parts of 114, 115 and MV6 clones were destemmed and crushed prior to fermentation in small open top stainless steel vats retaining a small portion of stalk for complexity. Some vats underwent post-fermentation maceration adding structure and savoury character. The wine was moved to the cellar for maturation in French oak barriques (20% new). After 12 months, the wine was racked and bottled without fining or filtration.
