Pinot Noir Four 2017


Like the duality of One and Two, Four is the bolder, darker alter ego of Pinot Noir Three. Made with our best hand selected whole bunches of MV6 clone from our main block, Pinot Noir Four is the boldest of the Pinot Noir range. A wine that can be decanted and enjoyed now, or savoured for many years to come.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Deep ruby

Aroma: After an hour of opening up the wine begins to discreetly show fleshy cherry and eventually revealing layered red fruit with rhubarb, pencil shavings, rye bread, mineral ginger and cured meats.

Palate: The palate follows the red fruit and rye bread theme with cacao, cola and cedar characters. The wine is seamlessly structured with powerful but finely textured tannins and delicate acidity with a long and elegant finish.

Technical Notes

Fruit for Pinot Noir Four came from the main Pinot Noir block and is made with MV6 fruit. Bunches were fermented in a stainless-steel vat with indigenous yeast and covered to promote carbonic maceration. Foot stomping was used to liberate juice from the bunches with traditional plunging later in the ferment. After extended fermentation the marc was basket pressed and moved to 100% new French oak. The wine was aged for 14 months with a single racking and no filtration or fining before bottling. 1,200 bottles made.
