Pinot Noir Three originates in the ‘Triangle’ block which is immediately east of the winery and is approximately half an acre. This is a unique plot of MV6 and 777 clones which sits geographically in the Yarra Valley but is geologically aligned with the Côte de Nuits. In 2003, the block was excavated and the subsoil was replaced with the addition of 250 tonnes of lime stone rubble. After returning the topsoil, the block was fallowed and close-planted with vines on a 10,000 plant per hectare grid (one metre separation).
